Business Mobile Phone Information from Aussie Phone Brokers
The Aussie Phone Brokers service examines Business Mobile Plans as part of the three areas of Australian Business Telecommunications.
Three Areas of Telecommunications for Australian Business:
Through our extensive experience we can state that the best small business mobile plans are from the four carriers:
Telstra
Optus
Vodafone
3 Mobile
(Note: Unlike the Landline Telecommunications sector, the Mobile Phone Carriers have retained the best pricing for themselves - as a general rule.)
The 4 Composite Elements of great Mobile Phone Plans
Optimising the best balance between the below 4 Elements will find a client their best business Mobile Telephone plan. Ignoring any one of these elements, however, may lead to long-term damage for a small business.
Composite Elements is a phrase introduced by Aussie Phone Brokers. The word 'composite' is meant to illustrate that only by examination of all four elements will the best business mobile phone plans be found.
Coverage
The primary issue when choosing a mobile phone plan. Unsuitable mobile coverage damages business profitability. See our links to Mobile Phone Coverage Maps, below.Pricing
Finding the correct mobile deal can save over 50% of the current mobile bill. Profitability is again at stake.Customer Service
Excellent customer service for mobile phone fleets is elusive. Aussie attempts to alleviate this issue by either managing the account ourselves, or by placing our clients directly with an agent who has a proven track-record for very high standards of customer service.Handset Costs
Probably the most-often overlooked issue surrounding the purchase of a mobile fleet is the cost of the handsets. Many providers offer discounted handsets - and then take away bonuses which would otherwise have been available. While this is not illegal, it is severely frowned upon by Aussie.
Thankfully Aussie Phone Brokers knows which mobile plans actually offer free handsets, and we direct our clients accordingly.
Failure to incorporate each of these 4 Elements would be disastrous to the usability and pricing of a business mobile fleet.

Mobile Phone Information and Tips
Bundled Solutions:
Aussie Phone Brokers examine the three areas of telecommunications through bundled offers and separately. Telephone, Mobile Phone and Internet services tend to be a more expensive when bundled. Also Aussie finds that most providers have greater expertise in one particular field, and so bundled telecommunications solutions can leave a client with less than satisfactory servicing other areas.
Generally speaking: it is best to separate each service - for both pricing and servicing reasons.
Two types of Mobile Phone Plans:
Traditional Mobile Phone Plans are (for example) the $80 plan which give $80 of credit to be used. The other (newer) mobile phone plan is the Cap Plan; with a monthly cost and a cap allowance (for example: a $49 Cap plan with $300 worth of calls). The call rates on capped mobile phone plans are up to 70% higher than traditional plans. If a user's monthly usage is very consistent, capped mobile plans will be most effective - otherwise a traditional plan is necessary. However, peripheral costs such as Line Rentals and Service Calls are often major source of savings.
Generally speaking: mobile cap plans are more cost-effective and are more cost-volatile than traditional mobile phone plans. Be careful what you choose.
Two contracts per Mobile Phone:
If a customer enters a contract with a mobile phone provider, there are often two contracts forged at the one time. Obviously there is the Usage Contract (the $80 per month plan, for example) and the Handset Contract. The mobile phone contract for the handset often takes the form of: "You agree that this handset is worth $600, and if you leave the contract before that time you agree to pay the remaining months' worth". The main trap here is that the Telco's are happy to begin new handset contracts during the term of the usage contacts (for example, consider a person having to get a new mobile phone because their current handset stopped working).
Generally speaking: the way to avoid this 'trick' is to buy all mobile phone handsets outright.
Hidden Costs in Mobile Phone Plans:
There are several main 'hidden' costs in mobile phone bills. The most obvious are: Service Calls (e.g. 1234 Sensis); Competition Lines; Information Lines; and Multimedia Messaging. Less obvious are peripheral costs which may or may not be included in your allocated usage. Calls which may not be included in your mobile's usage allowance are: international calling; international messaging; voicemail deposits and retrievals; calls to 13, 1300 and 1800 numbers. These costs may be free with one provider but charged by another.
Generally speaking: standard domestic calls and SMS's (known colloquially as Talk & Text) are included in a mobile phone plan's usage, but everything else should be checked.

Mobile Fleet Plans are an essential tool for many Australian businesses. Cheap calls to mobile fleet members (also called 'intra-account calls' or 'mobile group calls') and cheap calls to back-to-base numbers are the largest cost saving tools for business mobile fleets. Often, calls between mobiles in the same business fleet are entirely free. Aussie includes examination of mobile fleet plans to accurately compare mobile phone savings.
Aussie Phone Brokers believe that our service is essential for competitive Australian Businesses.
(Aside from general call costs, Aussie also examines mobile phone handsets and other service and equipment charges when preparing an analysis for our customers. This is to ensure an entirely accurate comparison.)
Mobile call types are:
-
Call to Landlines: Australia-wide, calls to most landlines are billed consistently.
Cheap phone calls from mobile phones to nominated landlines are offered by some mobile phone carriers. These nominated numbers may apply to an entire mobile phone fleet or to individual mobile phone services. -
Calls to Mobiles: These are the second major mobile call type. Many Australian businesses find that this area of spending is constantly increasing.
Cheap phone calls between mobile fleet members are common in the mobile phone market. Properly applied, these savings may be substantial. -
Mobile Calls to service numbers: These are calls to directory assistance numbers and 13, 1300 and 1800 numbers.
Some mobile phone service providers have chosen to apply very expensive call rates for calls to directory services. Some businesses have been caught off-guard and are paying substantial amounts per month. -
Voicemail service: Mobile users may be charged for both deposit and retrieval of messages.
Some mobile phone plans provide these features free of charge. Aussie Phone Brokers calculates these charges for each plan we apply. -
SMS : SMS and other messaging charges for mobile users are often not considered when deciding on a mobile plan.
Some mobile phone plans provide these features free of charge or at a reduced rate. Aussie Phone Brokers calculates these charges against each plan we apply. -
International Direct Dialling: While IDD phone calls are not one of the major call types, they can have a significant impact on costs. Mobile call rates from Australia to international destination numbers differ remarkably between mobile service providers.
Misquoting of rates is prevalent for international calling. Aussie Phone Brokers can help investigate and manage this problem. - International Roaming and Calling: Using your mobile phone overseas can be very expensive. mobile users are charged different rates for receiving calls, making calls within the current country and making calls back to Australia. Misquoting of rates is prevalent for international calling. Actual rates may be billed at 150% over the quoted pricing. Aussie Phone Brokers can help investigate and manage this problem.
Aussie Phone Brokers is able to examine all of these telecommunications solutions for our clients.
Mobile Phones are increasingly important to Small and Medium Business. Competition in the mobile market over the last several years has seen mobile costs decrease significantly. (In Europe, mobile costs are approaching their fixed line counterparts.)
Many Australian businesses find that their mobile plans are significantly out of date, and need to be updated as soon as possible. Unfortunately, often many of them are locked into mobile contracts, which must either be paid-out (if they are to be broken) or left to expire naturally.
Aussie Phone Brokers give our customers the best solution available: We analyse our customer's mobile bills and develop a solution - as though the customer has no current mobile contracts. This enables us to develop a breakeven date based on the anticipated savings versus the costs of paying out the contracts.
As far as possible, this allows our customers to put their mind at ease: Their best mobile deal has been found, the date for the implementation is set and they know that 'all that can be done, has been done'. In other words: Aussie makes the best of a bad situation.
As the time for a mobile solution's implementation draws near, Aussie Phone Brokers will call the customer to review the implementation plan and to set the wheels in motion.
Clients may choose to examine Landline plans services, Mobile plans services and Internet plans together or individually.
